I went to have the jewelry changed today (couldn't get the ball off lol) and the guy who did it asked me who did the piercing, he'd never seen one so low. He seemed almost shocked. I have a photo, I'm asking if you think it looks OK or should I remove it and get it re-done higher up? I'm kinda used to it so you tell me if I look stupid or not. I had it done uh, a few months ago.
I look terrible, last day with Luna so I was crying. http://img391.imageshack.us/img391/4940/p1020575hd5.jpg http://img377.imageshack.us/img377/4646/p1020484nj3.jpg Thanks! |

Aw your bunny is adorable!! Your last day with her? oh no that doesn't sound good
I got mine pierced the first time, and it was that low. It never healed, so I took it out and got it re-pierced. Based on the pictures it looks like yours was pierced in the cartilage below the "sweet spot". Let me see how to explain this.. in your septum area there is some hard cartilage on top, below that is some softer thin cartilage (the "sweet spot") and below that is the thicker cartilage, where it looks like yours was pierced. It's really upto you if you want to take it out and get it re-pierced, as it is your body. I did simply because it hurt like hell and never healed, and people kept telling me how painful it looked. After I got it re-pierced they told me it looked much less painful (no idea lol). That holz person is obviously the shallow pig. I think you look great, although you say you were crying. |

Often septum piercers go by where the "soft palet" is. This prevents excrutiating pain by not going through thick cartlige. I have mine low as well. I think its suiting I wouldnt take it out but then again I'm partial to piercings but perhaps you might consider putting in a much smaller hoop or I have a very small curved barbell in mine and it is pulled off nicely I think

That is low, and waaaaay too far back.
It's through the freaking cartilage, geez. I think it looks kind of odd, but it's your piercing, and if you're okay with it theres no need to go and change. |

I owned a body piercing studio for 3 years and also had my septum peirced. It does look pretty low. I would be a little worried about tearing it and if you ever want to wear a retainer it has to be up higher or you won't be able to flip it into your nose(the point of a retainer) You could go back to the place you got it done and let them know (see if they'll re pierce it) or you may want to find somewhere else. But just so you know, the septum is one of the trickier ones to pierce as the cartilage shifts a lot. If it dosen't bother you and you don't think you'll ever wear a retainer, and you can keep things from getting caught on it- then you would probably be ok.
