So I've had my upper belly button pierced three times total. The first and 2nd time were done by the same piercer. Determined to have it pierced I went to someone else asking if I was able to get it done a 3rd time. he said yes.. & that whom ever pierced it before wasn't piercing through enough skin & that's what caused it to grow closer to the surface. I have a pretty bad scar from it . But he went ahead and pierced under it and said the scar tissue would anchor it in. I haven't noticed any movement.. and there is still the same amount of skin. It's just I had the bottom done also and it looks totally healthy and my top piercing is very red.. which I thought it wouldn't be by now b/c I'm going on a month.

there is a pic^ do you think it could be from tanning n the scar tissue just being burnt idk what to do take it out?

It looks like normal redness and irritation to me.

All piercings have minor redness while healing.

Well redness is normal in a healing piercing.
Navel piercings take 6-12 months to heal so it could be red the entire time.
Going tanning could have burned the skin and irritated it.
If you do go tanning, cover your navel piercings with a bandage.

It looks like you may be fighting a slight infection with your top piercing. What are you doing for aftercare? You should be doing only sea salt soaks, no soaps, antiseptics, or ointments. For sea salt soaks, mix 1/8 teaspoon non-iodized sea salt in 4 ounces of warm water and soak for about 5-10 minutes 2-3 times per day. If you are using soap or if you are playing with the jewelry, you could also be irritating the piercing, which would cause the redness. Try only the sea salt soaks and the redness should clear up within a few days or so. Tanning may slightly irritate your piercings, but if tanning was the cause, you would notice the redness around the other 3 holes as well. Do you use any kinds of lotions when tanning? If so, make sure you keep the lotion away from your piercings. Getting lotion in the piercing could cause irritation or infection.
